March 18 – LD 11, Day 7: Reconciled to God through Jesus
by Rev Allen Brummel
Colossians 1:19, 20
“For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell; And, having
made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself;
by Him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.”
Reconciliation with God
is that which is so desperately needed by man.
·
We rejoice in the gift of God’s Son, by which
wonder God accomplished this reconciliation. God and man are brought
together through the child that was born, the Son that was given. (Isaiah
9:6) This work of God takes sinful men and women, forgives them, and
brings them into the closest relationship possible with the living God of
heaven and earth. We, who were lost and godless, are taken into the
family of the living God. The cause of our misery and conflict with God,
namely sin, is removed and we now are able to fellowship with God in Jesus
Christ. There is peace with God. The frightening curse is taken out
of our lives and we now realize that God is not a wrathful Judge, but a loving
Father who will judge in mercy and grace.
With this confession on
our lips, we are able to pray for the coming of Jesus again on the clouds of
heaven. He will come to sever the last tie that joins us to this sinful
world, and bring us into the fullness of heavenly bliss in the New Jerusalem
where God will tabernacle with man. Praise God today for His faithfulness
and treasure the glorious and mysterious union that we have with Him because of
Jesus.
