“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matt 28:19-20

Dear friends and fellow saints,

Greetings!

Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! By the time you receive this newsletter, it will be well into a new year!  How time flies! Let us take upon our lips the prayer of Moses in Psalm 90:12:  “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”

Calendar 2004

In my December 2003 newsletter, I promised you a calendar of activities for 2004.  It is now ready and we have attached it with this newsletter.  Kindly review the activities we are organizing in 2004 and consider visiting us at the Protestant Reformed Mission of Pittsburgh.  Your visit will serve as an encouragement to the saints here and will also be profitable for you.

Preaching and Teaching

We continue to have between forty and fifty at the Lord’s Day services held at Trinity Christian School every Sunday 9:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.  Our catechism classes are now held Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at the Mission Office.  We rejoice in the fact that a number of those attending the Essentials class have expressed desire to make confession of faith.  Our Bible study on Romans Thursday evenings is usually lively and edifying. Join us if you are in the area!

Allentown, PA

Plans are being made to return to the Allentown, PA area February 13-16, 2004.  Several families and individuals there are interested in seeing a Protestant Reformed witness in that area.  However, because they are separated by considerable distance, it is difficult to develop mission labors there.  We hope to meet with the heads of households during our next visit, to see if there can be a meeting of minds and a united goal in developing a work in that area.

Eastern Missions Retreat

A missions retreat is being jointly organized by the Protestant Reformed Mission of Pittsburgh and Covenant PRC of Wyckoff, New Jersey.  The purpose of this retreat is to encourage and build up the saints as we labor together for the spread of the Reformed faith in eastern USA.  Initial plans call for a location that would be midway between Pittsburgh and Wyckoff.  We hope our contacts in eastern USA will consider attending.  Please look for details in the April newsletter.  Tentative dates for this retreat are July 1-4, 2004.

Reformation 2004

We are already preparing for our 7th annual Reformation Celebrations here in Pittsburgh, PA.  Mark your calendars for October 29-31 if you would like to join us.  The theme for the lecture will be:  “The Reformation’s Influence on Missions” and the speaker will be Rev. Carl Haak.  Bethel PRC has agreed to participate and has suggested that we invite two members from all our evangelism committees and societies to join with us at this event.  We plan to hold a forum that will serve as a platform to discuss biblical methods and perspectives in evangelism.  We think this will be useful and encouraging for all involved in missions and evangelism labors.

Keep ’Em Brief!

How is that for a new-year resolution?  Keep the newsletters brief, and the readers happy!

In His Love,
Rev. Jai Mahtani
