Dear friends and fellow saints,
Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania!
Greetings in the name of our Risen Savior! Instead of giving you a
regular update this time, I wish to highlight for you some of our upcoming events. Those
of you who are in the Pittsburgh area might be able to participate in these events. Those
farther away will appreciate the information, but please know that you are also welcome.
Enclosed you will find a flyer which gives details and directions for
our Memorial Day Picnic. One of our local contacts has graciously offered us the use of
his property at the Kings Mountain Resort and Lake located about an hour from Pittsburgh.
We will gather there for a day of fellowship and refreshment. A member of the Pittsburgh
Steering Committee will give a speech on a timely subject in these days of wars and rumors
of wars. We will have a pavilion overlooking a lake, so we expect to have an enjoyable
time swimming, fishing, etc. Lunch will be provided, but please bring along a salad or
desert.
Because several people have been asking for information on
accommodations in Pittsburgh and directions to our Pittsburgh Mission, I am once again
enclosing the update I sent out late last year. This information will help you in making
your plans. Please note that when you call the Monroeville Holiday Inn you must ask to
speak with Larry or Tom in order to take advantage of the $39.99 rate, and you must
identify yourself as a guest of the Protestant Reformed Mission of Pittsburgh.
Preparations are underway for a twelve-part series on the subject of
death, to be aired on the Reformed Witness Hour this summer. Enclosed please also find a
flyer that we have prepared to promote this series. For the next few months, this
information will also be presented on the website of the radio station where the Reformed
Witness Hour is aired in Pittsburgh. Although the Pittsburgh Mission Steering Committee is
working hard to promote this in the Pittsburgh area, this series on death will be
broadcast over all our Reformed Witness Hour stations. We hope you are able to tune in and
listen.
Our family was able to enjoy a week's vacation on the east coast during
the children's spring break. One of the families from the mission joined us for this trip,
and we had a lovely time. Esther had help in the kitchen, the children had friends to play
with, and I was able to take long walks on the beach with my headphone on to review my
sermons on death. We are thankful for this brief respite as we continue to keep busy in
the work.
Till next time, may the Lord's richest blessings rest on you all. Thanks
for your prayers.
In His love,
This is useful (and updated) information for all who plan to visit the Protestant Reformed Mission of Pittsburgh. Please keep this information so that you have it when you need it. Thank you. We continue to have several out-of-town visitors to our mission. When do you plan to come?
