Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe
all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the
end of the world. Amen.

Greetings
Greetings
from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! We write again
to give you a brief update on the development of mission labors in Eastern USA.
There are several indicators on the mission field that the preaching of Gods
Word continues to be warmly received. The
first is the faithful attendance and enthusiastic worship of the saints. The second is the willing reception and cheerful
application of the truths of Gods Word by the people of God. And the third is the diligent effort and
persistent attempts of the members in inviting others to join with them in the worship of
God. All three are evident on the Pittsburgh
Mission field. Amidst the manifold trials and
struggles of this small mission, I rejoice to report that God in mercy continues to bless
both the preaching of the Word and the witnessing of the saints.
Evangelism
Conferences in Sister Congregations and Mission Fields
The Evangelism Committee of Bethel PRC in Roselle, Illinois sponsored an Evangelism
Conference May 2-4, 2003 at which I was privileged to speak and preach. The conference included a speech Friday night
entitled: Preaching and Witnessing in
our Pittsburgh Mission, a forum Saturday morning where we discussed several
difficulties faced in evangelism labors, and a luncheon at an Indian restaurant
afterwards. I also preached twice on Sunday
focusing on the call to strive together for the faith of the gospel. At the end of the Lords Day, the Evangelism
Committee of Bethel PRC met with me to discuss various possibilities of future labors to
encourage each other in the cause of missions. It
was encouraging to see the zealous interest of the saints in Bethel, not only for the work
in Pittsburgh but also for their own evangelism efforts in the Chicago area. Plans are to repeat this conference in Spokane,
Washington in September 2003 and again in Wyckoff, New Jersey in November 2003, the Lord
willing.
One of the immediate fruits of the above-mentioned conference was the gracious gift
of a new pamphlet produced by Bethels Evangelism Committee. Entitled: A
Brief Explanation of the Christian Faith, this pamphlet is being used in the NW
Chicago area by the members of Bethel PRC. Willing
to share their labors with us, the Evangelism Committee proceeded to print 1,500 copies of
this new pamphlet with modifications on the last page that include our address,
directions, etc. We are so thankful for this
generosity and desire for cooperative labors in the cause of missions. A copy of this new pamphlet is enclosed with this
newsletter. If you would like to make more
copies for personal distribution, please feel free do to so.
Progress
Report on Investigative Labors in Allentown, PA
We continue to investigate the possibility of ongoing mission labors in the
Allentown, PA area. We are thankful for the
enthusiastic cooperation of Covenant PRC in Wyckoff, NJ located only two hours away from
Allentown, PA. At the end of April 2003, Rev.
Overway and I visited the saints in the Allentown area, met with the various contacts,
held Bible studies, and also preached for them on Sunday.
In addition to the family in Schnecksville, we also have contact with several
others in the Hazelton area, which is about an hour away.
Plans are to provide the saints there with pamphlets, video and audio tapes, as
well as periodic visits to evaluate the possibility of future mission labors in that area. The Lord willing, Rev. Overway will visit the
saints in Allentown in July 2003, and I will accompany him there for another visit in
October 2003.
