We welcome all visitors who are worshiping with us today, and pray that you be blessed with us as we worship our glorious God.  If you need a device to assist you with hearing, please speak to an usher.

Classis West will convene this week Wednesday in Hull, IA.  An officebearer's conference on the subject The Divine Act of Creation will be held on Tuesday.  Pastor Kuiper and Elder Braaksma are the delegates from our congregation.  May God give all the delegates wisdom and traveling mercies.

Next Sunday Pastor Kuiper has a classical appointment to Cornerstone PRC.  Rev. Houck is scheduled to supply our pulpit.

Pastor Kuiper has received the call from Trinity PRC in Hudsonville, MI, to be their next pastor.  Pray that God will give Pastor clear direction as he considers this call.  Pastor plans to answer this call on or before Sept 19.

Two of our young people have left, or will soon leave, for college.  Derek Buteyn left last Monday to return to Dordt, and Dani Vroom will leave this week to return to Hope.  May God care for them in their absence from us.

Last week it was decided to have Pastor teach the adult class on the Canons of Dordt on September 13 and 27, then the third Monday of the month during society season.

News from consistory:

- Kyle VanBaren appeared before the consistory to request baptism for his daughter, Gracia Beth; the consistory approved this request and scheduled baptism for the morning of September 12.

- The consistory received the membership papers of Mrs. Jennifer VanBaren from Loveland PRC.  We welcome Jenn to our church family.

- The consistory consented to the request of Peace PRC to take the spiritual oversight of Mr. Jim Blankespoor while he lives in our area.

- The consistory adopted a proposal that, beginning September 12, the congregation recite the Apostles' Creed in unison at the afternoon service (the congregation will sit to do so); and that the congregation join the pastor in reciting the creed in the prayer of the Lord's Supper form.  A full explanation of this, with the grounds, was emailed to you, or can be found in your mailbox.

CATECHISM

The catechism season will begin on Sept 7 (Grades 1-7) and Sept 8 (Grades 8-Post High).

- Grades 1-7 are expected to memorize Lesson 1; grades 4-7 must also hand in their completed workbook sheet.

- Grades 10-11 must memorize Lesson 17.

- And grades 12-Post High will study the Canons of Dordt and the Church Order.

Requested Announcements

Bethel PRC invites all who are interested to come to our Reformation Day lecture to be held at our church on Friday, October 22, at 7.30PM.  Rev. Van Overloop will speak on "A Reformed Response to Rome's 'Come Home' Movement"

Rev. Herman Hoeksema once wrote that the members of the RFPA “ought to consider it a privilege that, in virtue of their office of believers, they may work for the sending forth of this testimony far and wide; and that they ought to assume their responsibility in this respect” (Standard Bearer Vol.22, p.130). Therefore, the RFPA announces the annual Association meeting to be held on September 23, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. at Hope Protestant Reformed Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Prof. Hanko will give the key address with reports of the Association officers following. All are welcome and encouraged to attend: current members, interested persons, faithful supporters, and readers.

How often do you read a book that you’ve never heard of? Statistics say that the vast majority of books are read as a result of referral or review. The Reformed Free Publishing Association wants to encourage our readers to review an RFPA book and post it to the website at www.rfpa.org. Our new site provides an easy "review" tab for each publication for this purpose. Reviews are vital for potential readers who are not familiar with our publications and would like to hear what our readers have to say about our books!

Denominational News

Rev. DeVries will be installed today as the pastor of Kalamazoo PRC.

This past Monday, the Lord suddenly delivered Pastor Rinat Fazliev to glory.  Pastor Fazliev led a small house-church in Uzbekistan and has been in contact with the PRC through the Contact Committee for several years.  He had been sick for some time, having been afflicted with a severe kidney diseasePastor Dilshod Abdulaev, the other PRC contact in Uzbekistan, conducted the funeral.  Rinat is survived by his wife, Galina, and his two children, Mark (11 years old) and Yana (7 years old).  Let us remember the Fazliev family and the Uzbek churches before our heavenly Father's throne, and may our gracious God give them the hope of resurrection and life in Him who is the Resurrection and the Life.
