Welcome to all our visitors today.

We pray that God’s Word may save and build up all God’s people.

Please sign the guest book and join us for fellowship after the worship service.

CD’s and DVD’s of sermons are available upon request.

See the notebook on the bulletin table.

The monthly Song Service will be held tonight at 5:45 PM.

Consistory

Pulpit: Our pastor has a classical appointment tonight in Holland.  Because of his busyness preaching in the churches and travelling to Namibia, Prof. Gritters has not been able to worship with us frequently.  Prof. Gritters, we welcome you to our pulpit again and are thankful for your willingness to lead us in worship.  We are also thankful to God for the work you do in our seminary, training men for the ministry.

Deacons:  The Deacons will meet this Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 7:00 PM.

Council/Consistory: The Council will meet this Thursday at 7:00 PM.  The Consistory meeting will follow the Council meeting.

Catechism: Catechism classes will begin on Monday, September 13.  The Consistory has decided that all the Monday afternoon classes will meet at the same time (beginning at 3:00pm).  Elder Mark Engelsma will be teaching the beginners class (grades 1-3), and Elder Jay Kuiper will be teaching the juniors class (grades 4-5).  Pastor Eriks will be teaching the seniors class (grades 6-7) and the three evening classes.  Because the afternoon classes will meet at the same time, there will be no need for monitors at church, as long as parents can pick up their children promptly at 3:45pm.  The catechism materials and class lists are available today on the table in the fellowship hall.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Pastor Eriks.

Lord's Supper: Next Sunday evening will be preparatory with a view to the administration of the Lord's Supper on September 12, the Lord willing.

Family Visitation: The fall family visits begin this week using Psalm 119:105-120.  The elders ask that you read the passage before your scheduled visit.  May the Lord use these visits to encourage us in our walk with God in our homes.

Tues., August 31 Rev. Eriks/Holstege 1-Anna Konynenbelt; 2-Jay Lubbers; 3-Josephine Mulder

Wed., Sept 1 Rev. Eriks/Brower  7-Betty Kamminga; 8-Scott DenHerder; 9-Roger Key

Church Family

Birth: Jordan and Alyssa VanBaren were blessed this past Wednesday with the birth of a son, Evan John.  Evan was born about three weeks early, so he may have to stay in the hospital a few extra days as a precaution.  Otherwise, both Alyssa and Evan are doing well.  We give thanks again for the precious gift of covenant children.

Our Sick: Mr. Dallas Parks was discharged from the hospital on Thursday, resumed his radiation treatments, and returned to Tendercare.  With the blood thinners he was given, the blood clot has improved and they will keep an eye on it.  We give thanks to God for the measure of recovery He has given to Mr. Parks and for His sufficient grace that He has given to Mr. and Mrs. Parks.

Thank You:  Mr Bodbyl would like to thank those who gave him a birthday card for his 90th Birthday and also thanks for the cookies (don't know where they came from).

Societies and Committees

Hudsonville Women’s Bible Study will begin September 15, with the daily lessons beginning September 2.  Study sheets are available in the back of church.  All members please sign-up by September 5 to be included in a group.

Recording:  we are looking for someone who would be willing to serve God and the church by taking over Derek VanderVeen’s position in making CDs.  Anyone interested please contact Rich Feenstra.

Catering Committee:  There is a wedding on October 8.  Please consider helping with setting tables, kitchen work, clean-up and/or waitressing.  Thanks!

Evangelism Committee: The Evangelism Committee, with the approval of the Consistory, has placed in the pew racks laminated cards with the order of worship on them for visitors.  Although the order of worship is on the back of the bulleting, visitors may not see this or get a bulletin, so the EC thought it would be helpful to have these cards available for visitors.  May this remind us also to welcome visitors to our worship services and help them in any way that we can (finding a bulletin, the nursery, the bathrooms, or the doxology in worship).

The September issue of the Closer Look will be distributed today.
