Council

Congregational Meeting: The Council scheduled the annual congregational meeting for Wednesday, December 9.  The nominations and agenda will be published soon.

Valet Parking:  Due to the favorable response to valet parking this winter, the valet committee is asking for volunteers to park cars.  We especially encourage young men 18 and older to sign up.  There is a sign-up sheet on the table in the narthex.

Large Print Psalters:  We have a couple of large print Psalters available if anyone would like to use them.  They have the words for all the verses but not the music.  If you are interested, please see Heidi Haveman.

Thank You: With thankful hearts Dallas and Sandra Parks rejoice knowing Sandra's father, Fred Kamminga's work on this earth is finished and he went triumphantly into Glory with his Heavenly Father. They gratefully thank the congregation, council, and Rev. Eriks for remembering them with cards, acts of kindness and prayer.  I Peter 1:3 and 4, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you…"

Directory Update:  Rob and Vicki Zolen have a new address:  5403 36th Ave in Hudsonville. The phone number remains the same.

Food Drive:  During the month of November, the congregation is being given the opportunity to share what the Lord has given us, in a food drive for others in our church family.  Please bring canned and dried, non-perishable goods to the church kitchen by Sunday, November 29, for distribution by the deacons.  If you would prefer donating gift certificates, you may put those in any offering plate, marked “FOOD DRIVE.”

Societies and Committees

Choir will meet TODAY from 11:15 until 12:30.

Young Peoples will meet after the morning worship service to continue our study of the book of Ephesians.

Young Adults will meet tonight after the worship service.  We will be studying 1 Corinthians.

Ladies Society will meet on Tuesday, November 17 at 7:30 PM.  Study begins with Psalm 125.

Men’s Society will meet on Tuesday, November 17 at 7:30 PM.  Study begins with James 1:1.

Jr. Chr. Fellowship will meet Tuesday, November 17 at 7:30 PM.  Study begins with Lesson 3, IV and we will begin Chapter 4.

Hudsonville Women’s Bible Study meets Wednesday, November 18 at 9:45 AM at Trinity PRC.

Evangelism Committee will meet Thursday, November 19 at 7:30 PM.

  • From the Contact Committee: Synod 2009 has authorized the CC to assist the Berean PRC of the Philippines and Covenant PRC of Northern Ireland in the financial support of Mr. Vernon Ibe and Mr. Martyn McGeown during their time of study at our seminary.  Funding for this support comes from collections taken in our churches for the Foreign Student Assistance Fund.  Based on collections received so far this year, a $10,000 shortfall is anticipated.  We ask for your prayerful consideration and support of this worthy cause.
  • Rev. Haak is considering the call from Byron Center PRC.
  • Cornerstone PRC is extending a call to Rev. Slopsema.
  • Bethel calls today from its trio of Prof. Engelsma, Rev. Eriks, and Rev. Koole.
  • First Holland PRC calls today from its trio of Rev. Key, Rev. Koole, and Rev. W. Langerak.

  • This week Sid Miedema and Rev. J. Laning will be traveling to Singapore to join Rev. Koole.  Rev. Laning and Rev. Koole will be speaking at a Reformation Day Conference sponsored by Covenant ERCS.  They will also be meeting with the Session of the Covenant congregation to work toward re-establishing a relationship with our churches per their request to Synod 2009.

Thanksgiving Singspiration will be held on Sunday, November 22 at 8:15 PM at Trinity PRC in Hudsonville.  It will be hosted by the Young People's Federation Board and a collection will be taken for the 2010 Young People's Convention.  Please plan to join us for an hour of giving thanks in song to our Heavenly Father.

70th Annual Performance by the Zeeland Civic Chorus of G. F. Handel's Messiah will be given on Thursday, December 3, at 7:30 PM at the First CRC of Zeeland and on Tuesday, December 8, at 7:30 PM at the Central Avenue CRC of Holland.  Join the chorus for a night of inspirational music.  No tickets are needed.  A freewill offering will be taken.

Post High Bible Study will be starting up again shortly with a fresh new look. Plan now to join us for a great time of fellowship, discussion and refreshments. More details are yet to come, so please stay tuned.

2010 Protestant Reformed Mission Calendar: Active in Missions has produced a 2010 calendar of our Protestant Reformed mission fields and contacts. The 12-month calendar features colorful pictures and descriptions of the fields as well as birthdays and anniversaries of our missionary families. School News

Adams Christian School is conducting our deficit support drive for 2009-2010 by mail.  The goal of this drive is $250,000.  To date, we have received $151,000 in pledges and have collected $105,000 of that amount.  Information and commitment forms will be sent out this week.  Please prayerfully consider this need and return your form by November 30, even if you cannot contribute at this time.

Protestant Reformed Special Education Drive is being conducted the weeks of November 15 and 22 through the mail.  Our goal this year is $104,000.  We earnestly pray that with God’s gracious help we can attain this goal.  If you did not receive a letter, or have any questions, please call Brandon Van Overloop (616-669-4816) or Bern Zandstra (616-534-3865).

Heritage Chr. School Board gratefully thanks all those who generously contributed to the Fall Drive.  At this time we have received $106,000 of our goal of $125,000.  If you have not been contacted or have not sent in your contribution, please send your gift to Heritage Christian School.  If you have given and are able to give more it would be greatly appreciated as we strive to keep tuition for our families at a reasonable level.  We also gratefully thank the drive captains and the collectors for their work.

Protestant Reformed School in Wingham was unable to hire teachers to fill its classrooms last year.  Therefore we have changed our plans and are hoping to open for the 2010-11 year D.V.  We are seeking an elementary teacher to teach a class of 16 students of grades K-6.  Volunteer assistance will be available.  We are also seeking a teacher/administrator for a class of 9 students of grades 7-12.  Teaching will be assisted by online curriculum for the upper grades. For more information please contact board vice president Mr. Harvey Kikkert at (519)523-4823 or email hkikkert@hurontel.on.ca.
