         CONGREGATIONAL  ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

              We welcome all visitors to our services today and heartily desire that you are blessed with us under the gospel.  Audio tapes, CDs, and DVDs of our sermons are available.  Please write your request on the form on the back table after the service and remember to leave a donation when you pick up your request.

              The Young People’s Society will meet today immediately following the morning worship service. 

              Women’s Bible Study will meet this Wednesday morning at Cornerstone PRC. Refreshments will start at 10:15 a.m. and Bible Study will begin at 10:30 a.m. The discussion will be on Lesson 12 (I Peter 4:1-7) in the study Guide by Rev. C. Hanko. The children’s Bible Story will be “Jesus Calms the Storm” and the memory work is John 6:36.  Refreshments will be served by Rachel H. & Shelley V.D.N., Toddler Nursery:  Tiffany V.B., Bobbi R., Kate V.U., Infant Nursery: Caitlin V.M. & Annette O.

              The Council will meet Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. immediately followed by the Consistory meeting. 

              The annual congregation meeting will be held at Peace PRC on Thursday, December 3.  The nominations for Elder: Mr. Arthur Boer, Mr. Duane Bruinsma, Mr. Lewis De Jong, Mr. Troy Maatman, Mr. Philip E. Van Baren and Mr. Keith Van Drunen.  Nominations for deacon: Mr. Timothy De Jong, Mr. Chad Dykstra, Mr. George Ophoff and Mr. Daniel Van Uffelen.  Objections to any of the nominees must be presented in writing to the Clerk of Council. A lawful objection is one which alleges that the election of one of these nominees would violate the Church Order or God’s Word.

              Last week’s offerings: Benevolence $1,164, PRCS $557.75, Church Building Fund $1,492.50.

Elaine Van Der Noord had knee replacement surgery this past Monday. The surgery went well and she returned home Thursday for recuperation.

                                                                      

CHURCH  NEWS

From the Contact Committee: Synod 2009 has authorized the CC to assist the Berean PRC of the Philippines and Covenant PRC of Northern Ireland in the financial support of Mr. Vernon Ibe and Mr. Martyn McGeown during their time of study at our seminary.  Funding for this support comes from collections taken in our churches for the Foreign Student Assistance Fund.  Based on collections received so far this year, a $10,000 shortfall is anticipated.  We ask for your prayerful consideration and support of this worthy cause.

Cornerstone PRC has called Rev. J. Slopsema (First, G.R.) to be their pastor.
              Trinity  PRC  (Hudsonville) has  a  new  trio consisting  of Rev. G. Eriks (Hudsonville), Rev. K. Koole
(Grandville), and  Rev. J. Marcus (Edmonton, AB).
              The Reformed Witness Hour can be heard on WYLL, 1160 AM, at 8 a.m. on Sunday mornings.  Next week’s topic is “Yet Will I Rejoice in the Lord” based on Habakkuk 3:17-19.   

    REQUESTED ANNOUNCEMENTS

The school finance committee reports that the recent Fall Dinner raised $35,720.00. We would also like to give a quarterly update on dues, envelopes and collections, for dues we have received $31,800.00 of $49,500.00, for HCHS collections and envelopes we need $112,795.00 and have collected $15,530.00, for PRCS collections and envelopes we need $71,000.00 and have collected $12,100.00. We thank the association for their support and our God who continues to bless us in this way.

              The Protestant Reformed special Education Drive is being conducted the weeks of November 15 and 22 through the mail.  Our goal this year is $104,000.  We earnestly pray that with God’s gracious help we can attain this goal.  If you did not receive a letter, or have any questions, please call Brandon Van Overloop (616.669.4816) or Bern Zandstra (616.534.3865). Save the date:  Plan now to attend the Protestant Reformed Christian School Ladies Auxiliary's 34th annual spring auction   on April 16, 2010.  The auction will be in the school's gym.  More details to follow.  We look forward to seeing you there.

              Fitting Praises” - Vol. 13 by the Protestant Reformed Psalm Singing Choir is now available at the special introductory price of $11 per CD until December 26, 2009.  Order forms are available on the back table.  

               Hope Heralds 2009 CD "Glad Adoration" is available. The CD is sacred music by a GR area PR male chorus of 50 men. You can get your copy by contacting Dan Van Dyke (616-669-7390) or Karen Daling (616-662-0784 or bulletin@faithprc.org). Cost of the CD is $10.

              From Hope Mothers Circle:  COMING SOON, His Glory Tell, is an arrangement of psalms by Marilyn De Vries played on the organ.  This new CD will be available early December.  This CD would make a great gift.  All orders received by December 1 will be delivered by Christmas.  The order forms are available.
