Amazing Grace: The Life of John Newton
“Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound” is a hymn that has been sung by multitudes for more than 200 years. John Newton, the songwriter, truly understood the meaning of the words that he wrote.
John was a man consumed by his own wickedness; a slave trafficker with no scruples about profiting from others’ misery. But when God opened John’s eyes to his own spiritual slavery and freed him from it, he experienced God’s forgiveness and amazing grace.
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” –2 Corinthians 12:9a
Come join us as we consider the life of John Newton and the amazing grace that alone saves.
