Delegations to Myanmar and the CERC in Singapore This Week - Feb.18, 2016

Myanmar mapThe Council of Hope PRC (Walker, MI) is once again sending an elder/deacon delegation to Myanmar. From a recent bulletin we learn of these details:

The Lord willing, Elder Dave Jessup and Deacon Jonathon Kamps will visit Myanmar from February 18 to March 1.  During the trip Rev. Titus’ church in Yangon will host a week-long gathering of thirty-seven men from various parts of the country to discuss the instituted church and the necessity of membership in a true church, as well as the special offices and their functions. Our delegation also plans to spend time with the council from the Yangon congregation (Rev. Titus, Elder Soe Thein, and Deacon Timothy) to discuss various parts of the church order, review the budget the council has developed (their first ever), follow up on questions from previous trips, and discuss any new questions or topics they have.

And the Contact Committee of the PRC is also sending a delegation to our sister-church in Singapore to conduct the annual church visitation. That delegation also leaves this week. From Grace PRC's bulletin we learn more:

Rev. Ken & Pat Koole and Mr. Dave & Mary Kregel will be in Singapore over the Sundays of February 21 and 28. Rev. Koole and Elder Kregel will conduct church visitation with CERC’s Session while they are here, and Rev. Koole will preach a couple of services for CERC.

Let us remember these delegations in prayer that they may have safe travels and profitable labors.

Delegation from Hope PRC to Myanmar, March 5-18

Myanmar mapThe following notice appeared in a recent bulletin of Hope PRC of Walker, MI concerning their labors in Myanmar:

The Council has approved a delegation to Myanmar this Spring consisting of Rev. D.Overway and Elder D.Jessup.

The purpose of the trip will be to hold a seminar for theological instruction and to follow up with work that we began during our trip in November. Topics for the seminar are “God’s Covenant” and “The Importance of Our Creeds”.

The trip is being planned, Lord willing, for March 5–18.

Please remember the delegation and the saints in Myanmar in your prayers. 2 Timothy 2:2, “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”

For more on this labor and the previous visit made (November 2014), visit this news item.

Let us too remember to pray for these men as they travel afar and conduct these labors on behalf of their Council and congregation. May the Lord richly bless their work in this part of the world.

Visit to Myanmar Planned by Hope PRC Delegation

Myanmar mapFrom the Nov.2, 2014 bulletin of Hope PRC, Walker, MI comes this note:

This week Thursday, Elder David Jessup, Deacon Jonathon Kamps, and John Van Baren, as a former member of the Myanmar Committee and one familiar with traveling to Myanmar, are planning to travel to Myanmar to meet with Rev. Titus, the officebearers, and congregation of the Yangon church to encourage and instruct. A bulletin board in the back of church has been updated with additional information about the trip.

The council asks the congregation to remember these men and the saints in Myanmar in prayer. May God grant that we not weary in helping the Lord’s children in Myanmar, to the best of our ability, as a manifestation of Christ’s body. “For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread” (1 Cor. 10:17).

To that note we may add our own, encouraging all of our membership to pray for this delegation and its labors.

For more on this field, see this news item from November of 2013.

Installation of Rev.D.Overway in Hope PRC, Walker

The Installation of our new pastor (the 12th in our history), Rev. David Overway, took place Sunday evening, April 14. April 21 marked the beginning of his ministry in our midst. We are thankful to the Lord for bringing him and his family to us. Through the preaching may we experience drawing near to God and to one another. “He that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort” (1 Cor. 14:3).
