Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses,
the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
2 Timothy 2:1,2

 Special Notes (August 2018):

  • The beginning of the new season of instruction is only a few weeks away, with classes scheduled to begin on Wednesday, August 29. Besides our seniors (Matt K. and Jacob M. - internships), we will have two other seminary students this year: third-year student Josiah Tan and first-year student Marcus Wee, both from our sister church in Singapore, Covenant ERC. In addition, four young men will be taking different levels of pre-seminary Greek from Profs. R. Dykstra and B. Gritters.

  • The internships of Seminarians Matt Kortus and Jacob Maatman began officially on Sunday July 1. Sem. Kortus will be interning at Trinity PRC under Rev. N. Decker and his Council. Sem. Maatman will intern at Hudsonville PRC under Rev. G. Eriks and his Council. The internship program runs from July 1 to December 31.

  • Seminary Convocation will be held Wednesday, September 5, at Providence PRC, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Prof. Gritters will be speaking on Acts 20:24 "None of these things move me..."  After the convocation address the student body will be introduced.  All are invited to attend. The program will be live-streamed (details on that to come).
  • The PRC Synod 2018 took a decision urging “the churches and the pastors in particular in their public prayers to pray the Lord of the harvest for able, faithful, and devoted pastors and teachers (Ephesians 4:11) for us and our children, as well as for the gathering of the elect out of the nations (Matthew 28:19).” A number of ministers are nearing the age of emeritation, and the number of students in the seminary at this time will not be sufficient to fill the upcoming needs of our churches either in our own congregations or in the work of missions. Please remember this urgent need in your prayers and encourage young men whom you observe to have the gifts to consider the ministry.

  • The Spring 2018 issue of the PRT Journal is now back from the printers and has been mailed out. If you would like to receive a print copy and are not on our mailing list, contact the seminary. The pdf version is also still available for free download. Visit this page to find out the contents and begin reading.

  • The seminary will be open daily during the summer months, including the library and archives. Staff will be available for assistance with any needs you may have.

  • The Seminary faculty along with Trinity PRC Evangelism Committee is working on plans for a Spring 2019 conference to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the great Synod of Dordt, 1618-19-2018-19. Look for details on this in the future.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

A prayer of John Calvin:  "We bow ourselves before the majesty of our good God, in recognition of our faults, praying that he may make us so to feel them that it may draw us to true repentance, so that we may not seek anything except to serve and honour him in his Son our Lord Jesus Christ.  May he be pleased to bear with our weaknesses and pardon us for the many vices which still remain, until he has completely purged us of them.  May he continue this grace until at last he may receive us to himself and bring us fully to that heavenly place.  Amen."  (John Calvin: Writings on Pastoral Piety, p. 126.)

Sem.R.Barnhill Licensed to Speak

RyanB2013The faculty of the Protestant Reformed Theological Seminary rejoices to inform the churches that they have licensed Mr. Ryan Barnhill to speak a word of edification in the churches.  We are thankful to the Lord that He has brought the brother to this point in his preparation for the ministry of the gospel.  And we trust that the Lord will use this aspect of his training further to equip him for his life’s calling.  “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” (Romans 10:15).  All scheduling of Mr. Barnhill to lead divine worship services will be through the seminary, and all requests for pulpit supply should be directed to the Rector, Prof. Ronald Cammenga (This email address is being protected from spambots.
