Jeremiah 29 11

On this fifth Lord's Day of 2018, February 4, we note the following news and information concerning PRC congregations, the Seminary, mission fields, and sister churches.

CONGREGATIONAL NEWS:

  • On Jan.28 Candidate David Noorman ACCEPTED the call from Southwest PRC (Wyoming, MI). From SW's bulletin today we find this note: "It is with great joy and thanksgiving to God that the church council announces that Candidate Dave Noorman accepted the call extended to him by our congregation to be our next pastor. The Lord willing, Mr. Noorman will be examined at the meeting of Classis on February 28. [*Note: The examination will be the first main order of business on Feb. 28, with the specimen sermon shortly after morning devotions followed by the oral examination. When the examination is complete, Classis will resume with the rest of its business.]  Upon Classis’ approval of his exam, his ordination as minister of the gospel and his installation as our pastor will take place at a special worship service on Wednesday, March 7. Prof. R. Cammenga will lead us in worship."
  • Rev. B. Huizinga (Hope PRC, Redlands, CA) continues to consider the call to Calvary PRC to serve as her next pastor (received Jan.21).
  • Rev. C. Griess along and his family moved to West Michigan this past week, where he will soon take up his ministry in First PRC, Grand Rapids. Plans for his installation have now been changed, as we read in First's bulletin today: "The installation of Rev. Griess will take place next Sunday morning, February 11, DV, instead of the previously announced date of March 4.  Rev. Slopsema will be leading this service."
