New Issue of "Covenant Reformed News"

CR News head

The latest issue of the "Covenant Reformed News" has been published, and once again it contains two interesting and edifying articles.

The first is by Rev.Angus Stewart, pastor of the Covenant PRC in Ballymena, N.Ireland. It is titled "The Dove-Like Spirit at Jesus' Baptism". From his article you will learn why the dove was such a fitting symbol of the Holy Spirit at the time Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.

The second article is penned by emeritus PRC Seminary professor Herman Hanko and is based on a question from a reader. Taking a look at 2 Kings 1 and Luke 9, Hanko explains why "fire from heaven" was appropriate in one context and not in another. You will want to read this article as well.

Besides finding the individual articles at the links provided here, you will also find the "CR News" in pdf form attached here.

If you have missed past issues of this solid Reformed publication, visit this page to find them.

Two Calls (Doon and Faith), Two Declines

On Sunday November 17, 2013 Revs.G. Eriks (Hudsonville PRC) and W.Langerak (SE PRC, Grand Rapids) announced that they had declined their calls - Rev.Eriks to Faith PRC (Jenison, MI) and Rev.Langerak to Doon PRC (Doon, IA).

May the Lord of the church continue to provide for these congregations in their vacancies and give contentment in His will for them at this time. And may He continue to bless the ministries of these pastors in their current congregations.

"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want." Psalm 23:1

Reformed Witness Hour Rally to be Rescheduled

RWHmasthead

SPECIAL NOTICE! Due to the tornado watch in the West Michigan area on Sunday evening (Nov.17) the RWH Rally had to be cancelled! First PRC had to cancel their evening service and therefore the RWH Rally too had to be cancelled. We do plan to reschedule this event in the near future. Below is the advertisement for the event as it had been prepared.

It's time for another Reformed Witness Hour Rally, a one-hour program to promote interest in, understanding of and support for our denomination's weekly radio and internet broadcast.

Have you forgotten the powerful ways in which the Lord is using our radio/internet ministry? Are you simply interested in learning more about this special kingdom labor? Perhaps you have a desire to serve on the RWH Committee (We are always looking for new people to serve - women and men!). Then come out and join us for an informative and inspirational night!

When? Sunday, November 17 at 8:15 p.m. at First PRC, Grand Rapids.

WBruinsma-2What? One of our radio pastors, Rev. W. Bruinsma, PRC missionary-pastor serving in Pittsburgh, PA, will speak (He is currently speaking on our program.). The women's group "With One Voice" plans to sing. The RWH Committee will give a Powerpoint presentation on the history and work of the RWH. And there will be a display of current and past RWH items for your viewing, staffed by RWHC members who can answer any questions you might have.

First PRC is moving their evening service to 6 p.m. to accommodate those who wish to attend both the service and the special rally program. At this service Rev.Bruinsma will be preaching. First PRC and the RWH Committee hope to see you there! Refreshments and fellowship will follow!
