On Sunday, October 6, 2013 it was announced in Doon (IA) PRC that Rev.R.Kleyn of the Covenant of Grace PRC in Spokane, WA had declined the call extended to him by the Doon congregation on Sept.15.
This coming Sunday, October 13, Missionary-pastor Wilbur Bruinsma will be giving a presentation in Cornerstone PRC (Dyer, IN) on the Pittsburgh PR Fellowship and work. He will also preach for Crete PRC on Sunday, Oct.14. All in the area are cordially invited to attend this special missions presentation and to hear Rev.Bruinsma preach.
While Rev.Bruinsma is away from the Pittsburgh mission, Rev.J.Slopsema and his wife will be there to preach for them.
CLASSIS WEST is scheduled to meet this Wednesday, October 9 hosted by Loveland (CO) PR Church. The main item on the agenda is the classical examination of Randolph PRC's pastor-elect, Erik Guichelaar. For this purpose a special worship service is planned for Tuesday evening, the 8th, at 7 PM (MT). Synod is to be represented at this meeting by three ministers (delegates ad examina) from the East: Revs. C. Haak, K. Koole and R.VanOverloop.
Let us remember in prayer the delegates as they travel and carry out the work of the churches in the West and for pastor-elect E.Guichelaar as he is examined. May the Lord be pleased to bless all the labors conducted and the decisions reached.

The Evangelism Committee of Randolph PRC (WI) is hosting a lecture this Friday, October 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the church. Dr. Nate Lanning, a cancer biologist at the Van Andel Research Institute in Grand Rapids, MI, will be speaking on "Understanding Evolution from the Reformed Perspective". Dr.Lanning will show that being a dedicated Christian scientist does not mean caving in to the pressures of modern evolutionism, but that one can and must maintain a faithful Biblical stand while working in the sciences today. All in the area are cordially invited to attend this timely lecture on a vitally important subject.
Original announcement: The organizational meeting for the Classis of the PRC of the Philippines is planned for Thursday, October 31. The churches forming this new Classis are the Berean Protestant Reformed Church (Cubao, Metro Manila, Rev. Vernon Ibe) and the First Reformed Church of Bulacan (Muzon, Bulacan Rev. John Flores). The meeting will include signing ceremonies, a meditation from Scripture, singing, prayer of thanksgiving, a group photo, as well as an opportunity to hear greetings and thanksgiving to God from other churches. The Protestant Reformed Seminary is planning to hold a special conference commemorating the 450th anniversary of the Heidelberg Catechism this week Thursday to Saturday, October 17-19, 2013 under the theme "Our Only Comfort".
