RFPA Annual Meeting

September 19, 2013  |  Georgetown Protestant Reformed Church  |  7:30 p.m.

Save the date for the RFPA Annual Meeting! This year's keynote address will be given by Rev. Brian Huizinga, pastor of Hope Protestant Reformed Church in Redlands, California. Rev. Huizinga will present

Encouraging the Next Generation to Read

"Reading has a significant place in the covenant of grace as an instrument of God for the fulfilling of His promises," said Rev. Huizinga. "We must share the conviction that reading sound, spiritually edifying literature cannot disappear among us, lest a generation arise which know not the Lord nor the works which He has done for us.What can we do to help promote such reading among the next generation?"

This topic of encouraging young people to read comes on the heels of a report from the RFPA that at present only 64% of Protestant Reformed households subscribe to the Standard Bearer.Additionally, at various Christian conferences throughout the year it is commonly and alarmingly reported by others that young people today do not read sound, spiritually edifying literature.

Stick around after the speech to hear more about the work of the RFPA and enjoy refreshments and fellowship with our Association members, authors, and fellow readers!

P.S. The audio of the meeting and speech is now available at the RFPA's Sermonaudio page. Visit and listen to this outstanding speech! Be inspired to read well!

P.S.S. Video is also now available of the speech in three (3) parts on YouTube: Part 1; Part 2; Part 3

New "Salt Shakers" Issue Published!

SaltShakersLogoDearest Salt Shakers' Readers,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!

We thankful to God once again for yet another release of Salt Shakers!

Salt Shakers takes on an army theme this issue, with an article title "Serving God through National Service" as well as testimonies from members in our church who have already gone through National Service (2 years of mandatory military service) in Singapore. The purpose of these articles is two fold. First, we hope that through these articles, the young man who are currently serving or are about to be enlisted in National Service would be build up by the biblical principles and good testimonies and shine for our Lord. Second, in light of Singapore's Ministry of Defense celebrating the 45th anniversary of National Service this year and with many news reports on the perspective Singaporeans should take towards NS, these 2 articles hopes to shed some light how we and soldiers of Christ should view national service, through the lens of infallible scripture.

Other interesting articles in this month's issue are "Our Father's Handiwork: Lightning", "Are the Psalms Adequate for the Worship of God?". "Parents' Role in Teaching the Catechism", "A Brief Report of Synod 2013" as well as a book review on "The Covenant of God and the Children of Believers".

We pray that these articles will be spiritually edifying to your souls.

Hope you enjoy this issue!

For the King,
Huiqi
On behalf of the Salt Shakers Committee

2 Timothy 2:3  Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
