PRC Synod 2014 Set to Begin June 10

HopePRC-WalkerWith the PRC Synod 2014 set to begin Tuesday, June 10, the following notices are given to the churches.

Remember to pray for the delegates as they conduct the work of the churches in common and for Sem.Joshua Engelsma, as he will be examined at this Synod.

The pre-synodical service will be held on Monday, June 9, at 7:00 P.M. in Hope PR Church, Walker, Michigan, with last year's president, Rev.Ronald van Overloop leading the service and preaching the Word. 

RVO-Pre-synod-2014

Synod convenes Tuesday morning at 8:00, not in the church, but in Hope PR Christian School next door.  Much of Wednesday and Thursday will be devoted to the examination of Mr. Joshua Engelsma

Mr. Engelsma’s graduation is planned for Thursday evening, June 12, at 7:30 in Hope’s sanctuary.  Prof. Russell Dykstra will deliver the commencement address.

Also, note these arrangements for live-streaming available for Synodical events:

1. The pre-synodical service (Monday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m. EDT) will be streamed live at www.sermonaudio.com/hopeprc

2. The specimen sermon of Joshua Engelsma will be given on Tuesday, June 10, in Hope Church, beginning at 10 a.m.

3. The examination of Mr. Engelsma will be held in Hope PR Christian School (just east of the church) on Wednesday and Thursday beginning at 8:00 a.m.

4. Pending synod’s approval the specimen sermon, examination, and graduation will be streamed live at www.sermonaudio.com/hopeprc

New Philippines Mission Newsletter - June 2014

Our missionaries in the Philippines, along with the Foreign Mission Committee and the calling church, Doon PRC Council, have recently published the second newsletter of this year.

The June 2014 issue, penned by Rev.Richard Smit, focuses on several of the most significant developments on this varied field of labors. These include the recent formation of a federation (Classis) of PRCs in the Philippines, the recent move of Rev.V.Ibe and the Berean PRC to a new location, and the decision of Doon PRC's Council to release Missionary-pastor R.Smit from his labors on this field.

The sixth issue of "Reformed News Asia" has been released by the Christian Literature Ministry of our sister church in Singapore, the Covenant Evangelical Reformed Church, and it is another issue filled with informative and edifying content (for information on the previous issue #5, click on this link)!

BC Meditations - June2014-coverOne of the special features of this issue is once again the devotions on the Belgic Confession, covering Articles 17-20 on the topics of The Recovery of Fallen Man, The Incarnation of Jesus Christ and The Union and Distinction of the Two Natures in the Person of Christ. Written by Missionary-pastor M.MeGeown, these devotions on the BC take you through the month of June (June 4-July 1) You will find great spiritual profit in using these devotions.

In addition, the newsletter also contains information about the CLM's pamphlet and book ministries and about activities going on in the CERC, such as the upcoming youth retreat.

You will want to find out what literature is being promoted this month (they have a new devotional pamphlet for children on the wonders of God's creation by Connie Meyer!) and read about Rev.Angus and Mary Stewart's recent visit to the CERC.
