FEATURED Pamphlet!
Leaving Bethlehem for Moab
By Rev Angus Stewart

This pamphlet  describes the book of Ruth as "a romantic book, for it begins with several tragedies and it contains a courtship (of a sort) which issues in a marriage (between Ruth and Boaz) and the birth of their son (Obed). A very happy ending!"

This book is significant firstly because it concerns our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ruth was the great-grandmother of King David, part of the very lineage of Christ! Secondly, as Ruth was a Moabitess, this story instructs us about the Universal church which includes Gentiles.

These are some of the important truths that are explained in this pamphlet. Read it to find out more!

Christianizing the World by Prof David Engelsma
From the RFPA website:

This book is a critique of Abraham Kuyper’s cultural theory of a common grace of God and of the grandiose mission of this grace, and of those who confess the theory and evidently intend to promote it so that it accomplishes the end Kuyper claimed. The book exposes Kuyper’s biblical basis for his theory and its practical mission.

The first and main part of the book is a much-expanded version of the public lecture given in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 2014 under the auspices of the evangelism society of Southwest Protestant Reformed Church in Wyoming, Michigan. The second part of the book consists of questions raised by the audience at the conclusion of the lecture and of the answers by the speaker at the lecture.

"In this edition, we continue our consideration of the theme of “A Pilgrim’s Path”. As Peter writes, we are strangers to the world, elect according to the foreknowledge of God our father (1 Peter 1:1-2). Yet, we are in the world. How shall we walk in it? This is an important question for us to ask in the days of our youth."

FEATURED Pamphlet!
KJV vs NIV
By Prof (then Rev) Ronald Cammenga

"The matter of which Bible translation is to be accepted by and used among the people of God is a matter of highest priority. For centuries the King James Version was the undisputed version of choice among English-speaking Christians."

In this article, the history of the NIV is first evaluated in depth. Next, the author criticizes the NIV for its poor translation which has resulted in the weakening of various doctrines. This includes the deity of Christ, predestination, justification and divorce and marriage. A clear, precise and faithful translation is needed for the proper understanding of God's revelation. Lastly, the author explains why the KJV should be retained as the preferred translation.

Read to find out more about these Bible translations and why we continue to use the KJV.

UPON WHAT DOES YOUR FAITH STAND?
By Rev Angus Stewart

In this 3-part series, we consider Faith!

In 1 Corinthians 2:5, the Holy Scripture warns that "your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men". "Wisdom of men" may include human philosophy, rational proofs or human testimonies.

Rather, true faith stands in "the power of God", resting upon God and His Word alone. The inward working of the Holy Spirit convicts us of the infallibility and authority of Scripture.

This truth about faith also establishes the importance of preaching. It is not debates, philosophies or arguments that create faith. It is the Holy Spirit which works faith in us through the preaching of the gospel - the gospel which testifies powerfully that in Christ, God has reconciled the world unto Himself (II Cor. 5:19) and that believers have everlasting life (John 3:16).

Is your faith standing firm in the power of God?

ABIDING IN OUR CALLING
By Rev Angus Stewart

This pamphlet is a four-part series on I Corinthians 7:17-24, which deals with the topic of our calling.

The first part speaks about our effectual call, election. The second speaks about our earthly calling, vocation. The third speaks about the calling of servants and how we were bought with a price, Christ's blood. Lastly, article four reminds us "that Christian contentment does not rest upon favourable external circumstances but upon faith in the goodness and providence of God."

An excellent read for all Christians in our various callings in life. Let us seek to use our callings for the service of God and the church!
