Spiritual Children with Love of the Truth

In Psalm 27:4 David presented a very important and significant desire. he wrote, "One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in His temple."

Get that! He speaks of one desire. And that desire is not for earthly pleasures, or for relief from aches and pains. His one desire is for spiritual blessedness. He wants to be completely free form sin, not merely from its punishment. To dwell with God we must be cut off completely from sin.

That truth Paul presents in Ephesians 4:14 where we read, "That we henceforth be no more children tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness whereby they lie in wait to deceive." What he writes here is so very important for us, with all the false doctrines that abound, and when many people today are tossed to and fro, that is, are pushed away from the truth, and thus away from God and His Christ, and find delight in dwelling with Satan and the fleshly cravings he presents.

Yes, that is an awesome truth which we cannot deny. We must desire to be friends of God, not of Satan. There just is no spiritual neutrality. We desire to grow stronger spiritually or stronger in carnality. But we must grow in desire for the truth, in order that we may become more and more Christ-like.

One is spiritually alive or spiritually dead. Even as he is physically alive or physically dead. And even as physical life causes us to strive to become stronger and healthier physically, so spiritual life causes us to desire to eat and drink the truth so that we become stronger in our faith and can live in a spiritually stronger life that pleases God. Is your walk of life like Christ's? Do you want to become more and more like Him?
