The Council of Faith PRC has announced a new trio of ministers from which to call a pastor. It consists of Revs.A.Brummel (Heritage PRC, Sioux Falls, SD), J.Marcus (1st PRC, Edmonton, AB), and R.Kleyn (Covenant of Grace, Spokane WA). The congregation plans to call a pastor from this trio on Sunday, March 23, 2014.

The congregation of Covenant of Grace PRC in Spokane WA recently voted to purchase a building for their worship. Currently they worship in a rented facility and because the landlord was going to raise the rent significantly, they began looking for another place of worship. Providentially, this building was just coming up for sale, fits their needs perfectly, and payments will be significantly lower than their current rent.

The building comes with a parsonage, and is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in Spokane. It's a central location in the city as well as for their members. The address is 4005 E Marietta, Spokane WA, 99207. They hope to close on and take possession of the property before the end of March, and move in shortly thereafter. UPDATE: They closed on the property on April 2, moved in that same week, and plan to hold their first service here on April 6.

The congregation also voted to sell the current parsonage, and after some repairs on the new parsonage, Pastor Kleyn and his family will move in next to the church. We praise the Lord for his provision, and thank the churches for their prayers and support.

SPECIAL INVITATION: Covenant of Grace PRC in Spokane, who began worshiping in their new building on April 6, would like to invite you to join them on Sunday, May 25 for a Sunday of dedication for their new church building.  "Ebenezer: Hitherto hath the Lord helped us" (1 Samuel 7:12).

The Council of Doon PRC (IA) has formed a new trio from which to call a pastor after the recent decline of Rev.R.Van Overloop (Feb.16). It consists of Revs. B. Huizinga (Hope, Redlands, CA), S. Key (Loveland, CO) and K. Koole (Grandville, MI). A congregational meeting will be held on Thursday, March 20, at 7:00 pm to call from this trio.

The third issue of "Reformed News Asia" has been released by the Christian Literature Ministry of our sister church in Singapore, the Covenant Evangelical Reformed Church, and this issue too is filled with informative and edifying content (for information on Issue #2, click on this link)!

Of special significance is the fact that this issue contains the third set of devotions on the Belgic Confession by various PRCA ministers, covering Articles 10-12 on the doctrines of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and creation. Written by Rev.J.Kortering and Prof.R.Dykstra, these devotions on the BC take you through the month of March (5- April 1) You will find great spiritual profit in these devotions.

In addition to this noteworthy item, the newsletter also contains information about the CLM's pamphlet and book ministries and about activities going on in the CERC. Of special interest is notice of two new pamphlets the CLM has produced from material written by emeritus Prof.H.Hanko on Christian Education and on the Antithesis (Christian living). Classis West met this week Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in Heritage PRC, Sioux Falls, SD.

Rev. Allen Brummel, (Heritage PRC) as the previous president, provided opening devotions. By rotation, Rev.Cory Griess (Calvary PRC, Hull, IA) presided as chairman.

The stated clerk of Classis West, Rev.Doug Kuiper has completed his public report for this meeting. It is attached here in pdf form. A few highlights are as follows:

Voting for various officers and functionaries is always part of the agenda of the spring meeting. Classis appointed Rev. C. Griess to a three year term on the classical committee, reappointed Rev. D.Kuiper and Rev. J. Marcus to three year terms as classical stated clerk and assistant stated clerk, and appointed Revs. A. Brummel, S. Key, R. Kleyn, and D. Kuiper to be church visitors for the next year. Assisting these church visitors, if needed, will be Revs. J. Laning and J. Marcus.

Rev. S. Key was appointed to a three year term as primus synodical deputy, and Rev. N. Langerak to a three year terms as secundus synodical deputy. The work of the synodical deputies is to attend meetings of Classis East, when Classis East treats matters requiring synodical approval.

Delegated to synod were the following ministers: Revs. A. Brummel, S. Key, D. Kuiper, J. Laning, and C. Spronk. Alternate minister delegates are Revs. C. Griess, R. Kleyn, N. Langerak, D. Lee, and J.
Marcus. Elder delegates are Alvin Bylsma (Calvary), Jack Lenting (Crete), Jim Regnerus (Doon), and Don Terpstra (Peace), and Leon Uittenbogaard (Calvary). Their alternates are elders Jim Andringa (Hull), Lou Regnerus (Randolph), Dewey VanDerNoord (Crete), Steve VanDrunen (Crete), and Bob Vermeer (Peace).
